Los Angeles County in California has become the new
coronavirus epicenter of America and by default the world. Today,
Los Angeles reported a record 12,807 new coronavirus cases.
California governor, Gavin Newsom, stated to the press the figure
represents, "The highest in the nation."
The Deadline website reported, "California now has
413,576 confirmed cases of COVID-19. That tops the 408,886 seen in
New York State as of Wednesday." Florida had taken over from New
York as America's coronavirus epicenter. However, cases began to
skyrocket in Los Angeles, with patients filling up all available ICU
beds in the city.

Wednesday reported a record 12,807 new coronavirus cases. He said
this total was “the highest in the nation.” The previous record came
on July 7 of 11,694. California now has 413,576 confirmed cases of
COVID-19. That tops the 408,886 seen in New York State as of
Wednesday.
Of course, California is the most populous state in
the U.S., with about twice as many residents as New York State, so
those totals should be taken in the context of the states’ total
populations. But it is telling given that New York was previously
