Disgraced Hollywood actor Jussie Smollett has been hit with six felony criminal charges in Chicago, in connection with a hoax he perpetrated that wasted police time and resources. Smollett, who became somewhat famous for appearing on the show "Empire" wanted to increase his salary and profile. He decided the way to do so was to stage a homophobic and racist attack against himself on a Chicago street.

Charges were initially filed against Smollett in 2019, for filing a false police report. Smollett stated two MAGA hat wearing President Trump supporters attacked him, put a noose around his neck, doused him in bleach, then yelled racial and homophonic slurs at him.

Police investigated and discovered Smollett staged the incident with two of his friends, who are siblings that worked on "Empire" called the Osundairo brothers. They cooperated with police against Smollett and no charges were brought against them. Smollett did not fare as well, as 16 charges were brought against him for the hoax.

However, due to former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama, exerting undue influence over prosecutor, Kim Foxx, in his former constituency, the charges against Smollett were dropped, much to the anger of police. Special prosecutor Dan Webb was then appointed to investigate the matter.

In 2019 the City of Chicago sued Smollett for $130,000 in reimbursement costs, regarding his time and resource wasting stunt. Smollett refused to pay. The damages requested in the case have ballooned to $630,000 because of Smollett's refusal to settle by paying the damages.

This week, Special Prosecutor Webb filed six felony charges of disorderly conduct against Smollett in connection with the hate crime hoax. Smollett is expected to appear in court on February 24, 2020. Jussie brought this on himself. He lied for terrible, selfish reasons. There are real hate crimes happening in the world. Jussie's conduct has only served to make it harder for real victims to be believed.

Doubts began to emerge when two brothers said Smollett had paid them to stage the attack, in an attempt to raise his profile because he was unhappy with his salary for the Fox TV series. Special prosecutor Dan Webb has now brought six felony charges of disorderly conduct, almost a year after the original criminal case against the star was dropped...
