Julian Assange Facing Eviction From Ecuadorian Embassy In London

May 29. 2018

Julian Assange

Australian whistle blower and Wikileaks founder, Julian Assange, has been holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy in London, England for the past 5-years, after leaking documents that exposed serious crimes within the U.S. government, among others. In March his internet connection was terminated.

Assange now faces possible eviction from the embassy. The Ecuadorian government issued a statement on the matter revealing, “The President of the Republic, Lenin Moreno, has ordered that any additional security at the Ecuadorian embassy in London be withdrawn immediately.” Moreno referred to the situation as “a stone in his shoe.”

Assange did a public service in exposing war crimes. Then he was then falsely accused of rape, in allegations prompted by the CIA, on charges that have now expired and been dropped by investigators in Sweden. Based on what I read, two women objected to sex with Assange, after the sexual activity occurred, not before or during the act. That is highly questionable.

Assange’s current predicament is as such, he illegally published classified documents, which makes him subject to arrest and extradition to the corresponding nations whose laws were broken. If Assange leaves the Ecuadorian embassy, he can be arrested by the British government, for missing a criminal court hearing, in relation to an international warrant from the U.S. government. Assange would then face extradition to the United States, where he could be given the death penalty.

While it does go against British law to extradite an individual to a nation where they could be given the death penalty, former prime minister, David Cameron, bent over backwards in illegality for former president, Barack Obama, via conduct that constitutes very serious and damaging criminal violations of UK, US and UN laws, which harmed innocent people for political reasons.

Therefore, there is a lack of trust on Assange’s part and that of his legal advisors, regarding whether the British government will follow its own just laws or bow to CIA and FBI corruption and lawlessness, as they have done before under Cameron. This situation regarding Assange has gone on long enough. Even the United Nations, who have failed on noted occasions, has denounced the situation as a violation of his human rights.
