John McCain To Obama: Come Work For Me September 12. 2008
Republican, John McCain, has offered political rival Barack Obama a space in his cabinet. Why would you want to put Barack in your cupboard? Just kidding.
John McCain is so sure of victory in the November 2008 U.S. presidential election, when asked whether he would offer Barack Obama a post in his cabinet, he responded yes. John McCain offers Barack Obama a cabinet post This is one promise that Senator John McCain might struggle to keep if he does win in November. When asked by Time's Rick Stengel, moderating the 9/11 anniversary forum on national service here at Columbia University in uptown New York city, whether he would give Barack Obama a cabinet job, he responded that he would. "Governor Schwarzenegger has made the service czar a cabinet-level appointment," Stengel said. "Would you, as president, do the same and would you name Senator Obama to your cabinet for National Service?" McCain paused for a beat before replying with a smile: "Yes!" Cue laughter and applause. UPDATE: Asked to respond to McCain's offer and whether he would reciprocate, Obama laughed and said: "If that's the deal he wants to make right now..." There was a bit of crosstalk and he added: "We've got a little work to do before we get to that point..." |
