Hollywood Actress Anne Heche Dies As Life Support Is Switched Off After Fiery Car Crash (Video)

Life support was discontinued today for Hollywood actress Anne Heche. She was 53-years-old. The Emmy award winning actress was high on cocaine when she went speeding through the streets of Los Angeles. Heche crashed into an apartment building's garage. Heche then reversed and began speeding again, finally coming to a halt via smashing into a one story, single family home in the town of Mar Vista, whilst going 90mph.

Heche's vehicle burst into flames upon impact, which also triggered a house fire. Heche was trapped in the burning vehicle for over 30-minutes before fire rescue was able to extract her from the car. It took 65 fire fighters to tend to the accident site. Heche suffered burns, smoke inhalation and brain anoxia, due to lack of oxygen while she sat helplessly in the smoke filled car.

A bystander tried to rescue Heche from the vehicle. He asked her if she was okay and she responded "no." When he tried to remove Heche from the burning car, he was overcome with smoke and heat, rending him unable to do so. He had to leave the accident site for his own safety, as flames engulfed the car and house.

When paramedics removed Heche from the crash site, covered her body and began wheeling her to the ambulance, she suddenly sprang up and removed the items that had been placed to protect her skin. She was awake and alert. However, some time after this point Heche slipped into a coma and was intubated.

Heche's family kept her on life support for a week, as she was an organ donor and doctors sought to determine if any of her organs were usable after the accident. Life support was switched off today, due to brain death. Heche leaves behind two sons.

For years Heche was the subject of controversy regarding her same sex relationship with talk show host Ellen Degeneres. The couple ended their relationship on bad terms. Heche stated she was blacklisted in Hollywood over the break-up and dating men thereafter.

Heche developed substance abuse issues while in Hollywood, in trying to deal with problems she faced in the entertainment industry. She like so many in Hollywood became alcohol and drug addicted, as the dysfunctional behavior and peer pressure in Hollywood is extremely intense.

Heche, like Degeneres, also struggled with mental illness. Years ago Heche infamously stripped down to her undergarments and walked for miles until she found a house in a remote area. Clad only in her underwear and a bra, Heche knocked on the door, went into the man's home, asked to take a bath, then watched movies on his sofa. It was one of many troubling incidents.

Heche's sad, tragic and preventable ending is a reminder of the seriousness of driving under the influence of drugs and or alcohol. Many people could have been killed as she sped through the streets in her car, with her mind impaired due to cocaine. In the end Heche's demons destroyed her life. It's sad to see that happen to a human being.

It is important to fight for your sobriety and stay away from people and situations that bring chaos to your life. Hollywood brought chaos and trouble to Heche's life, as it has done to so many others, who have died early.
