Harvey Weinstein Financial Woes Mount As 5 More Women Sue Him And Britain Investigates Him On Allegations He Raped 11 Women October 10. 2018
Harvey Weinstein in handcuffs being perp walked by police in New York Hollywood rapist and former movie producer, Harvey Weinstein, continues to live in a nightmare of his own making. Over 30 lawsuits have been filed against Weinstein, which is enough to send him into personal bankruptcy if judgments are levied against him. The legal fees alone will be enough to financially break him. 5 more women have sued Weinstein for rape, bringing the grand total to 22. Weinstein is also in trouble for defaulting on a $45,000,000 loan issued by AI International Holdings, resulting in a lawsuit being filed against him. Another lawsuit was filed against Weinstein by PR firm Sitrick & Co, due to a billing dispute, as they state he owes them $352,105 for services rendered. Sitrick & Co, a crisis management company, took Weinstein on when the sexual assault and rape scandal broke last year. However, some cases are so severe, no publicist can help. Another lawsuit was filed against Weinstein by Travelers Casualty and Surety Co., seeking a declarative judgment from the court, stating the company does not have to cover the costs of the disgraced, one time movie mogul’s mounting legal fees. Weinstein has lawsuit insurance. He obtained
coverage before his life fell apart last October, under the
crushing weight of New York Times and New Yorker magazine Lawsuit insurance is not to be used liberally. It does not mean the insured can behave in a reckless manner and expect the insurance company to pick up the legal tab. It comes with certain attachments. Weinstien’s behavior has been completely unreasonable and the judge should not force the insurance company to underwrite the legal defense for his criminal conduct. Weinstien brought this situation on himself. He needs to pay his own legal fees. However, that’s the problem why he’s clinging to the insurance company. The Weinstein Company, which specializes in inartistic arthouse films most people don’t get, filed for bankruptcy and was sold off at auction to pay for its debts. This effectively put Weinstein out of the movie business. Then, he was forced to retain attorneys to defend the avalanche of rape and sexual assault lawsuits being filed against him. Then, he began racking up legal fees in criminal court, when he was arrested and indicted for rape in New York. Weinstein has banked on having his legal fees reimbursed by the insurance company, who are flatly stating no. Therefore, he’s losing a fortune in legal fees with no reimbursement in sight. Weinstein is also under criminal investigation in Britain for raping 11 women. Many of these women will seek to take him on in civil court as well. There is also a legal vehicle in Britain that allows citizens to bring private criminal prosecutions if they self-finance it. Weinstein could get hit with even more legal fees and or face extradition. STORY SOURCE Harvey Weinstein On Hook For $45 Million Loan, Again September 29, 2018 12:25pm - After months of legal purgatory, Harvey Weinstein is once again battling a multi-million dollar loan lawsuit. Put on hold due to the bankruptcy proceedings of The Weinstein Company, the $45 million loan by AI International Holdings, is now once again on the docket of the New York Supreme Court and the disgraced producer may have to put serious money on the table, according to court documents filed Friday. AI International Holdings sued Weinstein last November for immediate repayment of the loan they made to TWC after Weinstein was ousted from the company he co-founded amid sexual misconduct allegations. AI argued in the lawsuit, that when Weinstein was fired, the loan became due by default because of an “adverse” change in the business... Harvey Weinstein Investigated Over 11th Alleged Sexual Assault In The UK As Part Of Operation Kaguyak September 17, 2018 2:42pm - The number of alleged Harvey Weinstein victims keeps growing in the UK as an 11th woman has come forward to British police. Scotland Yard is investigating another case of sexual assault in the UK as part of Operation Kaguyak. It takes the total number of allegations to 16 from 11 women. The latest complaint was filed on August 16 in an “unknown location in the early 1990s”. At least 10 of the incidents took place in the UK with an additional four reported to police occurring outside of the UK. The latest victim has not been named and Scotland Yard said that there had been no arrests or interviews under caution. Weinstein has denied all allegations of non-consensual sex... REVEALED: Five NEW women file rape and assault claims against Harvey Weinstein on the one-year anniversary of the bombshell sexual predator allegations that rocked Hollywood Published: 09:03 EDT, 4 October 2018 | Updated: 14:23 EDT, 4 October 2018 - It has been a year since Harvey Weinstein was first accused of sexually assaulting and harassing a slew of women in Hollywood, and the disgraced mogul is celebrating his first anniversary with the traditional gift of paper. That paper comes in the form of a new lawsuit, filed on Friday by Travelers Casualty and Surety Co., which is now the fourth insurance company seeking a ruling that would allow the company to deny any requests to cover Weinstein's many pending legal battles. The lawsuit is a bit of a surprise given that Weinstein had coverage from the plaintiff while working at The Walt Disney Company from 1993 to 1998, shortly after the corporate giant acquired his production company Miramax. An even bigger surprise, which also suggests more paper for Weinstein in the future, is the revelation in the lawsuit that an additional five women have filed pre-claims that could become lawsuits in the near future. In total, there are 22 lawsuits and claims pending against Weinstein at this time, and a dwindling number of insurers willing to cover legal costs or any settlements in these cases... Harvey Weinstein in billing dispute with civil defense firm Oct 10th 2018 12:00PM - Harvey Weinstein has lost one of his civil defense attorneys, following a dispute over the law firm’s bills. Mary Flynn filed motions in the Southern District of New York on Tuesday to withdraw from two of the cases she has handled on Weinstein’s behalf. Flynn, a partner at Morrison Cohen LLP, filed a declaration stating that the withdrawal was “due to a disagreement concerning the Firm’s invoices to Defendant and the Defendant’s stated intention to consolidate his representation in various actions pending in this District.” Flynn has worked with Phyllis Kupferstein, of the L.A. firm Kupferstein Manuel LLP, to defend Weinstein in numerous sexual harassment cases, including two class-action suits. In her declaration, Flynn said Kupferstein would continue to represent Weinstein and that the firm of Lewis Brisbois would also work on the defense. Weinstein is in a legal fight with four insurance companies, each of which has claimed it is not obliged to pay for his defense...
