Former police officer, Derek
Chauvin, has been found guilty on all counts in
the murder of African-American man, George
Floyd. Chauvin was found guilty of
"second-degree unintentional murder,
third-degree murder and second-degree
manslaughter." He will be sentenced in 8-weeks,
where he faces the possibility of spending the
rest of his life behind bars.
Protestors cheered outside the
courtroom as the verdict was read, regarding a
murder that appalled America and the world.
Chauvin was seen on mobile phone video kneeling
on the neck of Floyd. He literally posed while
suffocating the life out of Floyd who was cuffed
and helpless on the ground.
Chauvin's actions sparked
worldwide protests and riots all over America.
The global public pressure was so immense, it
compelled jurors to do the right thing in
convicting Chauvin of a murder we all saw right
before our eyes via mobile phone footage. If the
public did not vigorously protest Floyd's
murder, we would have witnessed another
miscarriage of justice, as seen in other similar
cases.
