David Cameron States "Multiculturalism Has Failed" February 5. 2011 David Cameron: Multiculturalism has failed
British Prime Minister, David Cameron, gave a speech this week proclaiming, "Multiculturalism has failed." Some agree with him and others do not. While every nation wants their country to be a melting pot of the creeds and cultures inhabiting the land, that is not always the case. Britain has many law abiding Muslims that have assimilated well. However, there is a separatist movement gaining momentum in the nation, which seeks to erase the British way of life, replacing it with Sharia Law and extremism. This cannot work. Britain is Britain, just like the Muslim Middle East is the Middle East. One will not become the other. As stated in past columns, Britain needs to retain its identity. By all means, different races and cultures can coexist, but under the British flag. One's loyalties cannot be divided if one is to dwell there. That means everyone living in Britain, should observe British customs, traditions and holidays and not try to destroy them. Extremism poses a threat to human life wherever it is found, especially the brand of the aforementioned, which believes in killing as a religious way of life. All it takes is one dangerous, well-organized and adequately funded terrorist cell, to wreak havoc on a nation, via a biochemical or concentrated nuclear attack. It could wipe out a metropolitan city that is at the heart of a nation's governmental, financial and social structure. Then what? Therefore, for any world government to believe otherwise is wishful thinking and the matter must be adequately addressed. There is no room for extremism in any society of the world, because at the end of the day, anything that can wipe out human life over a misguided, erroneous cause, must be treated as a negative. |
