Coldplay’s Incriminating Comment On Song Theft December 9. 2008
In an ill-advised statement Coldplay remarked, “If there are any similarities between our two pieces of music, they are entirely coincidental.” The mere fact that you would even acknowledge the possibility there are similarities is incriminating. That's not a real denial.
Granted, you probably don’t want to insult the public’s intelligence in stating the songs are dissimilar, as there are 1.6 million views on YouTube of the comparative infringements, conveniently placed side by side then over each other, accompanied by over 13,000 comments, many of them in favor of Satriani, stating things like he is to sue you for every dime you have to “teach those little fa*s a lesson” and they’re not talking about cigarettes (British slang). Let's not forget your previous comments on how you'll steal from anyone. The only way you could win this case is if you bribe the judge. Otherwise, you will be singing that line in your song for real, “Sweep the streets I used to own.” DOWNLOAD LINK (Open/play video with Windows Media Player)
Joe Satriani - December 9, 2008 7:01 pm - A statement from the band With the greatest possible respect to Joe Satriani, we have now unfortunately found it necessary to respond publicly to his allegations. If there are any similarities between our two pieces of music, they are entirely coincidental, and just as surprising to us as to him. Joe Satriani is a great musician, but he did not write or have any influence on the song Viva La Vida. We respectfully ask him to accept our assurances of this and wish him well with all future endeavours. Coldplay. |
