Chris Brown Moves To Have Charges Dismissed

April 29. 2009

Chris Brown (US Weekly)

Sony Music singer Chris Brown, under the advice of his lawyer, Mark Geragos, wants all charges dropped against his client, in the assault case against him, for beating up girlfriend Rihanna.

They plan to make this request, due to Warner Bros/Time Warner website, TMZ, illegally obtaining a photo, revealing a battered Rihanna, after the fight they had this past February.

Rihanna

Brown's lawyer asserts the leak has tainted and prejudiced the case against his client. Chris Brown fans certainly would be happy at this news, but others will not be.

It is not going to look good if these charges are dropped. Millions of people all over the world know about this case. It has inspired public service announcements in America and Britain.

The case needs to run its full course, lest it create another black eye on the already sullied judicial system, in the fall out from TMZ's misconduct, done in the name of website hits and increased advertising revenues.

Having written that, I also believe, Rihanna should have been charged as well, for initiating the fight. After all, couples have been brought in to jail on disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace charges before.

In other news, the $1.4 million dollars in jewelry Rihanna borrowed from four jewelers for a Grammy party, that was seized as evidence by the police, was returned today by the L.A.P.D.

Chris Brown's Attorney Wants Case Dismissed

Lawyer says leaks of Rihanna photo and other evidence should be basis for dismissal.

Mark Geragos, the attorney representing Chris Brown in his felony assault case, told reporters outside of a Los Angeles courthouse on Wednesday morning (April 29) that he wants the case dismissed entirely, due to high-level leaks in the investigation.

"Leaks can form the basis for a motion to dismiss the case in regard to outrageous governmental misconduct," Geragos said, according to E! News.
