California Is Becoming A Disaster Zone On Many Levels

September 14. 2020

California wildfires currently raging

Over 3,000,000 acres of California has burned in a series of new wildfires. The poorly irrigated state is suffering under record temperatures of 120 degrees. A lack of proper water and forest management is greatly contributing to the problem.

California is a large state with significant tax revenues due to Silicon Valley. Hollywood, also known as Sodom and Gomorrah, is also ensconced in the state of California (but has hit revenue declines). Nonetheless the state has large sums of money it could plough into addressing issues concerning wildfires and earthquakes, which could breed significantly rising sea levels and potential tsunamis.

There is also the issue of soil erosion which could deposit chunks of California under the sea due to shifting land issues from earthquakes and wildfires (which are creating terrible air quality issues). Not to mention, the temperature could escalate into the 130s.

The television news program “60 Minutes” aired a segment this past weekend concerning the massive water pollution problem in California. Heavily polluted water that is supposed to be treated by the state, is being dumped into the pacific ocean and making people sick.

I remember during a 2006 visit to California I was alarmed at seeing people swimming in the water in Malibu. The driver laughed and asked me why I was surprised to see people swimming in the ocean in Los Angeles. I responded by stating that an item I’d read (while in Florida) indicated the ocean in Los Angeles is polluted with medical waste.

Therefore, I assumed it is not safe for swimming. I also thought to myself while looking at the ocean in Malibu, the water is brown, whereas I’m used to seeing blue water where I was born and spent my formative years (Jamaica) and where I‘ve lived for years (Miami). Therefore, in my mind the brown pacific ocean water indicated something isn’t right (California).

So, last night my worst suspicions were confirmed while watching “60 Minutes” and seeing the brown, toxic, untreated water pouring out into the blue pacific ocean (40 million gallons per day). The water has sickened locals and the Navy Seals, who have a training facility bordering the ocean. Congress approved $300,000,000 to address the issue, but it is less than half the figure that is needed to fix the problem.

You know, if congressional leader Nancy Pelosi would stop protecting her high profile pedophile constituents and actually had them prosecuted and hit with massive fines and restitution, there would be more money to address California's irrigation, water management, wildfire and pollution problems.

Raw sewage flowing into the Tijuana River brings toxic sludge to California

Beaches are being polluted and communities, including the Navy SEALs and Border Patrol, are getting sick from the waste. Lesley Stahl reports.

2020 Sep 13 - The term "crisis on the border" typically refers to immigration issues or drugs being smuggled into the country. But it has one more meaning, as we discovered when we travelled to the border in early February: tens of millions of gallons of raw sewage that spill every year into the Tijuana River on the Mexican Side and flow across the border right into Southern California, polluting the land, air, and sea.

Mexico and the United States each thinks the other side should be doing more to clean it up, with no effective solution found on either side of the border for decades. This is where the Tijuana River crosses the border into the United States. This cement structure was built to contain flooding from rainfall. But this isn't just rain water, it's a toxic mix of raw sewage from neighboring Tijuana, draining into Southern California on lower ground, eventually emptying into the pacific ocean...
