Bobby Brown's Sister Slams His Wife Alicia Etheredge Over Lies In ‘The Bobby Brown Story’ Biopic That Paints Ex-Wife Whitney Houston Negatively

September 7. 2018

"The Bobby Brown Story"

Bobby Brown’s sister Leolah Brown has slammed the television biopic “The Bobby Brown Story” which aired on Tuesday and Wednesday. Brown’s sister slammed his second wife, Alicia Etheredge, as the source of the problem with the gross inaccuracies in the biopic, which I also denounced yesterday as containing lies. Leolah stated on social networking:

"THE FAKEST MOVIE I EVER SEEN! THAT IS NOT ALICIA! Paleeeeeeeez! Spare me that laugh! Such a liar! I’m wondering what is the motive for all this? I read well though… and trust I’m not dumb! Listen, Alicia if you think for one minute that you are going to kill my brother and get away with it guess what? All I can say is you better stay prayed up!

Bobby why did you let Alicia lie like that in that movie and say she welcomed your whole family into her life!!!??? And this b**** literally without a little exaggeration hates for absolutely no reason every single person that carries your blood!!!!??? Aaaaaaand she wouldn’t even allow you to give your own mother $17.00 dam dollars to pay for your mothers medicine she needed at the dam pharmacy?!

Are you kidding me! Hell no I’m not shutting up! You know this b**** turns her nose up at any and every damn body that dam knows you. Family first!! Bobby why are you all lying for her!???? She’s evil! You are sleeping with the devil!”

Yes she did hate her because EVERY SINGLE TIME She wanted to spend time with her father after her mother passed.. Alicia would not let it happen without her there! This movie is full of s— Krissy hates Alicia."

Others have stated that Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston's late daughter, Bobbi Kristina, did dislike Etheredge. Due to the fact this was exposed by others, Etheredge took it upon herself to rewrite history with this biopic. She's not eve a screenwriter. Why insert such fallacies into the film.

As Leolah revealed, Etheredge is an outsider who has lied in the biopic she co-produced with Brown. As stated on this site yesterday, Alicia made herself and Bobby the heroes and his ex-wife, legendary singer, Whitney Houston, the villain. They left out so many pertinent details, like all the work Whitney did for charity. All the family members and friends she helped by giving them money and job opportunities. All the times Whitney gave money to help Bobby’s children (child support) and bought them items.

The film neglected to reveal much of Whitney’s anger with Bobby was due to his rampant cheating, which would upset any woman. Brown also lied that after he came out of prison, he returned to Whitney as a complete angel seeking sobriety and she was the evil one trying to get him back into addiction.

Brow lived in Mendham (New Jersey), Miami (Florida) and then Atlanta (Georgia) with Whitney after he was arrested for his longest stint. Brown forgets an interview he did years ago where he stated he “can’t remember 5-years" of his life in the “Atlanta” mansion Whitney bought, because they spent all that time doing drugs. Therefore, Bobby lied, as he was back on drugs for years. He wasn’t clean and sober, with Whitney being the only one getting high, as portrayed in the film.

Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston

Bobby also blamed Whitney for getting him hooked on cocaine. Bobby blamed singer Janet Jackson for getting him hooked on hard liquor. Here’s the problem with that. People in the industry stated Brown was on cocaine when he was 15 and got kicked out of New Edition at that time, due to the erratic behavior it created on stage. Brown liked to take cocaine before each performance. He’s been doing so since his teen years.

Brown’s late mother did a radio interview years ago blaming New Edition member Michael Bivins for getting Bobby hooked on cocaine when he was 15 (Bivins denied the claim). Brown didn’t meet Whitney until a decade later. Furthermore, Bobby was selling cocaine and marijuana in his teens. Therefore, how did Whitney get him hooked on cocaine when she hadn‘t even met him yet. How was any of this Whitney’s fault when she wasn’t even in his life yet. Another factor to consider is many drug dealers also do drugs.

Blaming Janet for getting him hooked on hard liquor is also dubious. She’s not known for going around drunk. Brown became known for being high and or steeped in drunkenness on a regular basis. Brown needs to take responsibility for his life and stop blaming women for his poor choices. Etheredge is enabling Brown in feeding into these deceptions they placed in the movie. Alicia also added some of her own lies in attempting to belittle and cut down one of the greatest female singers who ever lived after she, Alicia, cheated with Bobby, but couldn't escape Whitney's shadow.

They weren’t truthful about so many things in the film that basic researching would have revealed. For instance, Bobby and Alicia pretended they masterminded his whole career beginning with the “Don’t Be Cruel” album. First of all, Alicia had nothing to do with the successful segment of his career 1988-1990 and is trying to write herself into places in history she does not belong, attempting to take credit for things she has not done (and history will correct itself). She also wrote herself into playing an instrumental role in his follow up album "Bobby" which never happened.

Alicia was Teddy Riley’s girlfriend, but had nothing to do with writing or producing any of his songs (some of which Gene Griffin dishonestly took credit and much of the payment for at the inception of Riley's career). If it wasn’t for Teddy Riley and L.A. & Babyface, the album “Don’t’ Be Cruel” would not have been a huge hit selling 20,000,000 copies worldwide. Alicia had nothing to do with that.

Leolah Brown

MCA brought Bobby producers with strong material. They insisted he work with LA & Babyface, who gave him the hits “Don‘t Be Cruel” “Every Little Step” “Roni” “Rock Witcha” and later “On Our Own.” I remember when I was a kid, it seemed like the album “Don't Be Cruel” was on top forever, as it did very well.

Songs from "Don't Be Cruel" were on the radio all the time across all formats. It was a huge hit. So was Riley’s “My Prerogative” (which by the way, Britney Spears should not have been allowed to remake as her rendition was awful). Riley also contributed "I'll Be Good To You" which was included on the sitcom "227" making the track popular as well.

The movie also made it seem like Bobby wrote the hit “Roni” and about Janet Jackson. However, I distinctly remember an interview where Babyface stated he wrote the song after seeing a box of “Rice A Roni” rice. Babyface is the one who is credited as the writer of the song "Roni."

In the biopic, Bobby and Alicia also gave credit for Bobby’s career management during his career's most successful years (1988-1990) to his brother Tommy. This was not accurate at all. They neglected to mention that he was actually being managed by wealthy black American banker and construction company owner, George L. Smith, of Oakland, California.

Smith started a company called Pacific Cal management to manage his then wife Pebbles (who later left him for L.A. Reid of L.A. & Babyface). Smith had the business acumen to successfully manage Brown and Pebbles in the late 1980s. Yet, he got no credit in the film. It all went to Brown’s brother, who was not a businessman and knew nothing about the music industry.

The follow up album "Bobby" flopped because things went into the project that were not right, among other issues, such as the material not being as strong as the "Don't Be Cruel" project. The follow up just did not have the same caliber of hits. In the music industry having hit songs are what will make a career truly successful.

Bobby Brown and his second wife Alicia Etheredge

Additionally, why did they leave out the part about Bobby, having blown through his $25,000,000 bank account in a matter of roughly 3-years, angrily arguing with Whitney's father/manager, the late John Houston, demanding control of her $100,000,000 fortune. Bobby also demanded to be made Whitney's manager, which her dad rejected. It set off a massive dispute and her father tied up portions of her money to stop Bobby from blowing through her fortune as well.

Bobby was completely strung out on crack cocaine, heroin, marijuana and was getting drunk as well. He was in no condition to manage his own finances, record label and recording studio, which began going straight downhill due to his addictions, let alone Houston’s which was significantly more lucrative with much more to lose.

No female singer has matched what Houston accomplished in music. If Brown was at the helm of her career once they got married in 1992 and he began trying to remove her dad as manager, much of what she accomplished with “The Bodyguard” soundtrack and ensuing projects would not have happened.

Brown was the one with the very extravagant tastes in the relationship. He was a spendthrift. Whitney enjoyed the finer things in life, but he took it to extremes that bankrupted him. He would have spent all of Houston’s money had her father not fought to protect it.

Brown also took Houston's Bentley when she left him. He had the car driving around in the projects of Boston where he grew up. A local rival got wind of it and shot up the car stating Brown came back to Boston showing off in his wife's car. The 1995 incident left Steven Sealy, the fiancé of one of Brown's sisters, dead with bullet wounds to the head in the drive-by shooting.

Brown has been arrested and cited for assaulting people in separate incidents. Brown was even arrested in 1993 for simulating sex with a woman in front of an underage audience, which is highly inappropriate. He frequently went around high on drugs and alcohol, and engaged in harmful acts against others.

Yet, all of this was left out of the film to paint Bobby as an angel, who was taken advantage of and corrupted by women like Houston and Jackson. Bobby and Alicia sold the BET network a pack of lies. In watching the movie I kept thinking, why did they lie like this. What about the people in music who know the truth. The biopic is discredited by all the lies. Worst of all, Whitney is dead and can't defend herself against this unduly harsh, mean and inaccurate portrayal. Hence this article...
