There’s an episode of “The Golden Girls” where the
sitcom character Blanche playfully pinches a police officer on the
bottom twice and he threatens to arrest her, but she runs off before
he can do so. Well, maybe Cleveland Browns football player Odell
Beckham Jr should have legged it like Blanche, because a warrant has
been issued for his arrest, for slapping a police officer/security guard on the
butt. The charge is for simple battery.
The incident occurred inside LSU lockerroom. The
security guard told the celebrating college football players to put
out their cigars in the lockerroom. As he bent over to communicate
this information to one of the football players, Odell smacked
him on the butt, in what was meant to be a humorous attempt at
getting him to stop interrupting the celebrations.
In American football, players and coaches slap
each other on the butt. It is not meant to be considered sexual or a
form of battery. However, the security guard was not amused and
filed a complaint with New Orleans police. If found guilty Odell
could face 6-months in jail and a $10,000 fine.
