Ratings Decline As The Taylor Swift Helmed Show Experiences
Its Lowest Ratings Ever

The American Music Awards telecast that
aired last night was a ratings failure. The show was
headlined by pop singer Taylor Swift and registered its
lowest rating ever. Once a favorite among audiences of all
ages, the show has been on a steady ratings decline over the
past several years. To boost ratings producers brought in
Taylor Swift, but it did not work.
While on stage, Hollywood liberal Swift
issued a political message, encouraging her fans to go out
and vote in the upcoming U.S. midterm elections. However,
there’s a problem with that. Most of Swift’s fans are
preteens and teens who are underage and can’t vote.

Ratings: Taylor Swift Can’t Save AMAs From Hitting New
All-Time Low
October 10, 2018 @ 8:25 AM Last Updated:
October 10, 2018 @ 8:58 AM - ABC’s “AMAs” set a new record
low in TV ratings on Tuesday, despite Taylor Swift opening
the show with a performance and closing it by clutching the
evening’s top award.
The “American Music Awards” settled for a
1.8 rating this year among adults 18-49, which is the
demographic most attractive to advertisers. It had a 2.4 in
2017 when the special aired on a Sunday in November. Last
year’s 2.4 tied the previous record-low set by the 2016
version.
