American Idol Offends The South

"American Idol" judges
Yesterday's episode of "American Idol" offended
a lot of Southerners in slamming and falsely accusing a
contestant of issuing them a death threat on air. The contestant
said "be careful" as he left the audition and the judges went
overboard stating it was a threat, when it is a commonly used
phrase in the U.S. While, I think Simon Cowell is a horrible
person due to his conduct with
the
other Simon (Fuller) in wantonly infringing copyrights,
he's from Britain.
Paula Abdul (is the black dude to the right...I'm just
kidding, she's the one standing in the middle)
Paula, who I also think is terrible for her
shenanigans, really should have known better and shown the
contestant a little more courtesy, considering what happened
with
the other Paula. People use that phrase as a pleasantry,
instead of saying upon parting "take care" "be safe" or "drive
carefully." I even used it yesterday in
joking
about the First Family. I have to wonder if the judges
really are this clueless or cruel or doing this for publicity,
like the corny, inappropriate joke they made
about the
blind last week.

"Idol" Judges Lack Southern Hospitality
Posted Jan 22nd 2009 9:30AM - The judges on "American Idol"
need to learn a little sumthin' about their southern slang --
before they crush another innocent gent. A contestant on last
night's episode was given a quick "no" from all four judges and
on his way out told them, "Take care and be careful ... in
whatever you do." All the judges took the remark as a threat --
but in actuality, odd as it may be, "be careful" is a common
parting expression in some areas of the south...
