Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg A new report from Pew discovered 1 in 4 Americans have deleted the Facebook app after controversies regarding the company spying on users and secretly opening it up to third parties such as Cambridge Analytica. Members of the public have also accused Facebook of mismanaging its website enabling the Russian government to influence people during the 2016 presidential election. Facebook also lost a number of site users over open acts of discrimination against conservatives. These scandals have caused a steep decline in Facebook's stock value and its CEO's personal fortune. It marked a fall from grace that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg was not ready for in any measure. One minute he was popular and the next both people on the political left and right began slamming him (even in Congress). Nearly three-quarters of American Facebook users have changed how they use the social media app in the past year, following a barrage of scandals involving the abuse of personal data, foreign interference in U.S. elections and the spread of hateful or harassing content on the platform. The findings were released Wednesday, Sept. 5, in a new survey by the Pew Research Center the same day that Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg is testifying before a Senate panel hearing to discuss how the company is combating foreign interference on the platform similar to Russian-tied efforts seen during the 2016 election...
