18-year-old high school student, Salvador Ramos, opened fire at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.19 students in 2nd to 4th grade were shot to death by Ramos. A special needs teacher and another school employee were also shot and killed. A number of other students were shot and transported to the hospital. The death count kept rising throughout the day.

Two police officers were also hit by gunfire while responding to the incident. The shooter was killed by police as he tried to escape and got into a gunfight with Uvalde ISD officers and Border Patrol Tactical Unit. It was later reported the killer had shot his grandmother prior to traveling to the elementary school to commit the mass shooting.

The parents of the deceased children need money to bury their kids. The government should pay for the funerals. After all, it is government inaction that has facilitated the deaths of these precious children and adults. Congress needs to act on gun control. If they fail to do so mass shootings will continue happening in America. It's as simple as that, but Congress does not want to do it. Ban the guns. Other nations banned the guns and their homicide rates plunged.

I've seen so many photos online of people, even kids, posing with high powered weapons. An 18-year-old was able to obtain guns, AR-15 rifles, which can shoot 100 bullets per minute. No civilian needs that. It should be illegal. These weapons have turned Americas streets, schools and churches into war zones.

The country is in a bad way and sweeping changes must be made to save it from this terrible downward slide. My condolences to the families of the victims. I am truly sorry for your loss. So very sorry.
