18-Year-Old Cheerleader Arrested For Burning Newborn Baby And Burying The Infant In Backyard

18-year-old Brooke Skylar Richardson has been under house arrest pending trial for the murder of her new born baby. The charges include aggravated murder, involuntary manslaughter, endangering children, tampering with evidence and abuse of corpse. When Richardson, a cheerleader, realized she was pregnant, she went to her doctor, who confirmed the pregnancy.

Richardson's doctor informed her she should tell her parents of the pregnancy. However, Richardson did not, opting to give birth months later on the day after her prom and bury the infant in her family's backyard. Richardson returned to her doctor's office and informed the physician of what she had done. The doctor telephoned the coroner's office informing them of the murder of the infant, resulting in an investigation, arrest and criminal charges.

Richardson told her doctor the baby was dead upon delivery. However, the criminal investigation revealed forensic data illustrating the baby suffered trauma and was burned before being buried. It has not been established that the baby was stillborn. A second forensic expert hired by the defense is disputing the claim Richardson burned the baby. The trial continues.

Brooke “Skylar” Richardson of Carlisle, Ohio, was arrested July 20 and charged in the death of her newborn baby after the child’s remains were found buried in the backyard of the home where she was living.

Richardson made her first court appearance July 21 for her arraignment and was charged with one count of reckless homicide. She was then indicted August 4 on five charges, including aggravated murder, involuntary manslaughter, child endangering, tampering with evidence and gross abuse of a corpse, WLWT-TV reports...

“The general allegations against her are that sometime during the night of May 6 to May 7, 2017, that she did give birth to a newborn infant and that she caused the death of that infant. She subsequently burned the infant and buried the infant in the backyard of her own residence,” Warren County prosecutor David Fornshell told the news station.
