Keefe D Makes First Appearance In Court Charged With Ordering The Murder Of Rapper Tupac Shakur And Grand Jury Witness Names The Shooter (Videos)

October 5. 2023

Southside Compton Crips member, Duane "Keefe D" Davis, 60, is being held in Nevada without bond, regarding the 1996 shooting death of famous rapper, Tupac Shakur. Davis is accused of orchestrating Tupac's murder, which was originally said to be carried out by his nephew and fellow gang member, Orlando Anderson. Tupac and Anderson, among others, got into a fight at the MGM Grand after a Mike Tyson bout.

After the event, Tupac was shot four times in a vehicle that was also occupied by Death Row Records CEO, Marion "Suge" Knight, who was hit by a bullet fragment. A bullet grazed Knight's head and he survived with very little medical treatment. However, Tupac was hospitalized for a week with two bullet wounds to the chest, and one to the arm and thigh. Tupac succumb to his injuries 6-days later.

Tupac's organs began failing, and his mother, Afeni Shakur, decided to withdraw life support, stating her son would not want to live in that condition, as his right lung and two fingers were removed, and he was intubated which would have impacted his voice and career. went into respiratory failure, then cardiac arrest. When Tupac went into cardiac arrest and began hemorrhaging, his mother decided to pull the plug.

In the arrest of Davis, an unnamed Southside Compton Crips member stated DeAndrae Smith was the gang member who shot Tupac four times. Smith and Anderson were in the back seat of the white Cadillac that pulled up beside Knight's BMW and opened fire. However, all maintained Davis ordered the shooting. Anderson was murdered 2-years after Tupac, when he again confronted rival gang members. Smith died years later after attempting to become a rapper.

I've stated it before on this website and shall again. It would have been better had Knight left Tupac in prison when the rapper lacked the $1,000,000 in bail money. Though the case Tupac was incarcerated for was very shady, on allegations he raped a woman at a night club, even though people present stated she willingly performed a sex act on him, he would have been better off in prison for a few short years than on Death Row Records.

Tupac originally wasn't a thug. He went to Baltimore School for the Arts. He wrote poetry. He was a dancer. He even took ballet. Tupac was not known for gang involvement until he joined Death Row Records. Tupac, who was from New York, took on the California/west coast, gang related beefs of Mob Piru Bloods member, Knight.

In attacking Anderson after the boxing match, in retaliation for him having attacked a Bloods gang member, Tupac set his death in motion. However, Knight led him down a dangerous path into gang activity when he signed the record deal, which ultimately resulted in his death at age 25. It is tragic to see men waste their lives in gangs.
