Jamaican Football Prodigy Signed To Liverpool

March 2. 2010

Raheem Sterling

15-year-old Jamaican football prodigy, Raheem Sterling, has been signed to Liverpool FC in England, for $500,000. He is being called "the next Theo Walcott," who is a half Jamaican, British born footballer that plays for Arsenal. Well done, young Sterling. Even though you did not sign with the Judiciary Report's favorite, Arsenal, much success to you in the future.

'I'd love to see him play for Jamaica'

Published: Tuesday | March 2, 2010 - At 15 years old, Jamaica-born footballing prodigy Raheem Sterling is already capturing the British headlines, after recently penning a contract with European giants Liverpool amid interest from some of the top clubs in England. Sterling, who grew up in the Queen's Park Rangers (QPR) youth system, drawing comparisons to the likes of international superstars Wayne Rooney and Theo Walcott, chose the Merseyside-based team over the likes of heavyweights Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Fulham.

The youngster, who recently made his debut for the England Under-16 team, was landed for a reported fee of £300,000, with QPR expected to receive further installments if the one-time Maverley native breaks into the Liverpool first team. His performances with the national team have done little to quell the hype around the winger, with several British publications hailing the speedy and skilful player as the next great English talent.

Hopes to represent JA

However, Sterling is first and foremost a Jamaican, and despite the obvious temptation of playing for England, he has not turned his back on his country of birth and still harbours thoughts of one day donning the Jamaican colours.

Liverpool land wonderkid with stunning £300,000 contract offer

Published 23:00 28/02/10 - Liverpool are giving 15-year-old sensation Raheem Sterling a stunning contract worth £300,000 to join them from QPR. The Kop outfit have pushed out the boat for the England youth star who is already rated the 'next big thing' after his appearances for club and country. Attacking midfielder Sterling chose to go to Anfield for football reasons, but his financial package is a stunner for a player of his age.
As a schoolboy Sterling will only be able to earn the basic low wage, but part of the Kop contract includes a three-year 'pro' contract when he turns 17.
