Before his massive fall from grace, the now indicted Hollywood movie producer, Harvey Weinstein, was privately known in the industry as the man who could get you an Oscar. He wielded an unethical amount of influence over the Academy Awards' committee, among others in the industry. Many of his movies, some of them not very good, won undeserved awards, due to his threatening misbehavior and reputation as an insane bully.

Weinstein's ability to control the results of the Academy Awards, corruptly rigging it in his favor and that of those in his camp, has tainted the award. It has stripped away the mystique and prestige of the award. In the academy bowing to pressure from ruthless bully and rapist, Weinstein, who employs thugs, private investigators and former government agents to criminally spy on, harass, threaten and bully others, the award has been devalued.
