Britain Facing Another Food Shortage As Predicted On The Site Last Year (CO2)

June 27. 2018

British Prime Minister Theresa May

In a November 14, 2017 tweet on Twitter.com I warned that Britain would face food shortages. 4-months later it began, regarding a chicken shortage at KFC, which I wrote about in the February 21, 2018 article KFC Chicken Shortage In Britain Leads To Temporary Closure Of 500 Restaurants Indicating An Agricultural Problem (As Stated Previously On The Site).

This week another food crisis has surfaced in Britain. A number of mainstream news sites are now reporting Britain is facing a CO2 shortage. CO2 is used to make meat, beer and French fries (chips). If Britain runs out of beer, fish and chips, it won't be pretty. The British people will not be amused.

It's amazing, the amount of heads up I have given in articles that I know the British government reads, as they are in the site stats for the Judiciary Report, yet they let these undesirable things happen away. It says to me that Theresa May's cabinet is ill-equipped to run the country. I had hoped for the best regarding May and her government, but it has been one major cock up after another.

My November 14, 2017 tweet on Twitter.com warning about about potential food shortages in Britain

I have written articles warning on a number of serious subjects pertaining to Britain such as the 2015 police cuts being a bad idea, the urgency of securing the US trade deal, the NHS cuts needing to be avoided and now 10,000 have died this year because of it, the food shortages, the risky snap election and engaging in more aggressive job creation in face of Brexit or face a reversal of fortune which has now begun. Yet, May still let all these things go wrong. I have a proven track record of getting things right (I also predicted the the 2008 financial crisis in America). I wrote these warnings out of concern for Britain.

Last year, I even stated Britain should have its own tech sector. I don't see anyone in the British government making a move towards making that happen. There are available industrial parks in east London and north London that could be used, with some government investment to get the ball rolling. Many jobs could be created in that manner, to help offset the positions being lost due to Brexit.

Britain is a country of 65,000,000 people and the current government inexplicably doesn't see the need for its own tech sector and all the job creation that could come from it. Parliament needs to become more proactive regarding May, as she is struggling. She's freezing up on big issues and making the wrong choices in a number of matters.

CO2 shortage 2018: UK at risk of running out of chicken, beer and fizzy drinks amid worst carbon dioxide deficiency for decades

4 days ago - Britain is at risk of running out of chicken, beer and fizzy drinks amid the worst carbon dioxide shortage to hit the country in decades. The lack of CO2 has sparked major concern just as more people head to pubs to watch World Cup matches and the BBQ season gets under way.

A longer than usual break in production at plants across Europe has left the UK relying on one big plant producing CO2 - which is used to carbonate drinks and preserve some packed fresh foods. Sixty per cent of chicken processing plants, many of which use CO2 in the slaughter process, could be out of operation within days, according to the Guardian. Trade journal Gas World said the shortage had been described as the "worst supply situation to hit the European carbon dioxide (CO2) business in decades"...

A CO2 shortage is causing a beer and meat crisis in Britain

June 21, 2018 - Carbon dioxide (CO2) is used in the production of a wide variety of food and drink products. But with at least five CO2 producers across northern Europe offline, a shortfall in the gas is causing shortages in beer, fizzy drinks, and meat. Britain is particularly affected because the seasonal shutdown of the plants has meant that the UK has only one big plant producing CO2 left.

The British Beer and Pub Association, along with individual beer producers and pubs, has warned of the crisis caused by the shortage. Without naming companies, the trade association said the shortfall has caused beer production shortages. Heineken, the UK’s biggest brewer, said its CO2 supplier was facing “a major issue” in the UK. Meanwhile, one of Britain’s biggest pub chains, Wetherspoons, said it’ll be forced to pull a number of beers and fizzy drinks from its menu soon.

CO2 is also vital in both the production and packaging of meat. Already nine of the UK’s largest poultry plants have warned of the “critical” shortage of CO2 affecting output. The Food and Drink Federation said this week that the industry is worried about the CO2 shortage, while the Association of Independent Meat Suppliers said it will meet the Department for Food and Rural Affairs and the Food Standards Agency to discuss what the potential knock-on effects to the nation’s food industry will be.
