Chris Brown Felony Assault Charges Reduced To Misdemeanor

The Charges Need To Be Dropped

October 28. 2013

R&B singer Chris Brown was in court in Washington, DC today to answer felony assault charges, in connection with a fight that occurred outside the W Hotel. Two men photobombed a picture Brown was taking with two female fans and then attempted to board his tour bus, which is unlawful trespassing.

Brown's attorney Danny Onorato stated, "Christopher Brown committed no crime. We understand that his security acted to protect Mr. Brown and his property, as he is authorized to do under District of Columbia law. We are confident that Mr. Brown will be exonerated of any wrongdoing."

Brown and his bodyguard Chris Hollosy acted in a manner to defend themselves from potential injury and to eject the intruder, Isaac Adams Parker, 20. During the fracas, Parker of Maryland, was punched in the face. Brown pled not guilty to the charge. It was stated his bodyguard punched the trespasser, who accused the singer of making a homophobic comment, which he denies. The initial police report had stated Brown's bodyguard threw the punch, but for some reason it was changed to say the singer did it.

Brown has made homophobic comments in the past, but this story makes no sense. For Brown to just up and state "I'm not into that gay s***. I'm into boxing" is odd. Furthermore, it's not homophobic to state one is not into gay sex. After all, a gay person is allowed to state they are not into straight sex.

It appears as though Brown was propositioned by a man, who had illegally entered his tour bus. Under the law he had a right to defend himself and his property. What security conscious male entertainer would allow a complete stranger, another male, who could be armed and dangerous, to just hop on their tour bus and remain. That's a massive security risk.

If a man had trespassed on a female singer's tour bus and been punched in the face for it, the trespasser would have been immediately arrested, with no charges filed against the woman. There should not be a double standard in this regard.

The aforementioned is not normal behavior. Fans have stood next to tour buses. That's not considered strange, but entering without permission as these two men did is illegal. The two men approached Brown with an agenda. It appears as though they followed him. They were there to start trouble and certainly did in a regrettable way.

Why photobomb the two female fans' picture, ruining their moment, when they don't know you and you are not famous. Can you imagine them showing people they know the photo and repeatedly being asked "Who are those two guys in the photo?" and having to explain that whole mess. What would their boyfriends have said (had this story not gone public).

As stated previously in the column, I don't know Brown personally, but he tracked me down twice in Miami. I assumed it was due to my columns and the fact me and his label Sony Music are on terrible terms due to acts of copyright infringement by the label - much like Sony had done to my godmother's husband, the late Clement "Coxsone" Dodd, the founder of reggae music.

Brown wasn't aggressive, belligerent or angry. He was jumpy, somewhat nervous and just kept staring at me both times he tracked me down in the neighborhood I used to live, which concerned me. However, the Brown I saw is not reconciling with the one being painted as a person that just jumps up and attacks people he encounters. Twice he had the opportunity to attack or curse at me, but he didn't.

When Brown gets into violent confrontations with people, there's always a trigger and people know how to push his buttons to get the incendiary results they want. As I've repeatedly stated, Brown has vicious enemies in Hollywood, who want to see him locked up and will pay people to bring about those results.

As I've also repeatedly stated, Brown needs a break from the industry. Certain industry people are setting him up. Next thing you know, someone is going to lie and cry rape. They've done it to others like Tupac. Some women are genuinely raped and my heart goes out to them, but some cry wolf for various inexcusable reasons.
